Put It On!

Yesterday afternoon I ventured out for lunch. Though the temperature was hovering around the freezing mark, I took off my coat and headed inside Home Depot, where the temp was a little higher.
On my way out one of the store personnel wished me a good afternoon, then did a double-take and asked me, “Where is your coat, sir?”
I replied with an “in the truck!”
That reminds me of a parable that Jesus told about a wedding.
It the last part Jesus said, “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
“For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matt 22:11-14
What you wear is important; especially when it comes to getting into heaven.
It is written put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Rom 13:14
He is Isaiah’s garment of praise. Isa 61:3
He is Paul’s whole armor of God. Eph 6:11
He is Aaron’s linen garment. Lev 6:10
He is Joshua’s rich robes. Zech 3:4
When you get dressed today, remember to put Him on too!

  1. It is as though God is waiting for us to invite Him into the day He has made. Early I will open the door for my God to begin His work in me. 2 Timothy 2:1 says “be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus”. We have to open the door to Him, we have to study His Word or the power wont be there when we need it. I do wonder how many times that grace has protected me unaware. Lord let our eyes see, let our ears hear Your ways. Use our hands for Your glory. That is why there is life in me!
