God Knows Teachers Are Worth More!

I found an interesting post on Facebook that caught my attention.
It was written by a Tim Deppen and dealt with teacher’s salary.
Basically he (tongue-in-cheek) called the teachers “babysitters.”
Babysitting pay is about $3 an hour.
Without paying them for time spent before or after school, just the time they are with the kids, which is 7 hours with a 30-minute lunch; that’s 6-1/2 hours total.
That would be $19.50 a day. (3 x 6-1/2 = 19.50)
Each parent should pay $19.50 a day for these teachers to baby-sit their children.
A classroom has a 22 student limit so that’s $19.50 x 22 = $429 a day.
However, remember they only work around 180 days a year and we don’t need to pay them for vacations; they are teachers, not Congress!
That’s $429 X 180= $77,220 per year.
But many teachers have a Master’s degree and, to be fair, they should be paid more.
It would be insulting to give someone that has a Master’s minimum wage, so instead let’s make it $8/hour for the same amount of hours and days.
That makes their pay $205,920 a year.
It seems as if teacher’s are worth a lot more than babysitters, since they actually teach your children a thing or two!
They are certainly worth much more than they are getting paid.
For teachers I give this comfort; Jesus said, “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7
Sparrows were the smallest of the small things that could be purchased and Jesus said that God knows all about them.
Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matt 6:25-26
Show a teacher how much you care about them; share Jesus with a teacher or give a small gift to one.

  1. Believing what Jesus teaches makes a person so strange, even to the point of not understanding them. Indeed we are not to worry about what we’ll eat or wear, nor the future. However we are to think of our future, and prepare the best we can. Right. Point…If we can not prepare as we think we ought to be, health reasons for example, then should someone worry? I mean the culture of this socity is if you don’t have money you don’t get anything, food, housing, medicens. Personaly I’m not worried!
