Attitude Changes Everything

In one day he received word that he had lost his oxen, his donkeys, sheep, and camels.
That constituted all of his livestock; his ranch was gone.
While contemplating the news another message arrived that all of his children had been killed when a storm collapsed the house where they were gathered.
He had never had such a day as this.
Instead of complaining, moaning, and groaning over something he had no control over, Job said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong. Job 1:21-22
His troubles were not over.
He became sick, his wife turned against him, and his best friends tried to convince him that this was punishment from God for unrepentant sin.
Job’s problems are not that unusual; maybe loosing the farm and the children all in one day is a bit much.
But many have lost their business; many have lost children; many have lost their health or their marriage.
There are those that lose everything to a tornado or fire.
I know many people that haven’t had 1% of the problems that Job did and they are a constantly complaining.
Then I know others that have as many or more problems as Job and they don’t complain.
Instead they praise God and seek Him.
How do you react when things go wrong?
Are you the moaner-groaner?
Or are you the raise and praise type?
How well you deal with a situation will determine how it turns out.
I’m not saying that if you praise God everything will automatically be restored as if nothing happened.
I’m saying your attitude will change your problems.
Paul said it best; Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Cor 12:9-10

  1. When I first walked into the hospital room where my daughters body laid the words I heard in my mind was “thank You Lord.” All the while there those words repetted in my mind. I had the TRUTH that my daughter is alive. That was only her body. As for the overlapping infirmitie that come upon me…Paul said that his life of suffering was to show forth longsuffering. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Job was an example of this. The man that was born blind, Jesus said it was for the glory of God. So, who am I? I too am to show forth the grace/glory of God in my life!
