The Bible Is Not A Novel

Then Moses was content to live with the man, and he gave Zipporah his daughter to Moses. Ex 2:21
I like to listen to Book Radio on the way in to work and on the way home.
Over a period of weeks, or months, I get to listen to an entire book 30 minutes at a time.
Currently in the afternoon drive home, I’m listening to Zipporah – Wife of Moses by Marek Halter.
Being a student of the Bible, I have found it entertaining but I also believe it is flawed, of course, it is a novel and not a historical document.
One such flaw is the relationship of Moses and Zipporah in the book. The author has them committing fornication, at least 3 times (up to now) and Gershom is born out of wedlock.
Now I realize that Moses comes from a genetically flawed background.
Abraham was a liar, as was Isaac; Israel (Jacob) was a deceiver and had 2 wives and 2 concubines, that is, women that were not his wives.
Reuben slept with one of his father’s concubines, Simeon and Levi disgraced their father, Judah consorted with a woman he thought was a prostitute, and several of the boys wanted to kill their brother Joseph!
Something else that caught my attention is in the book Gershom is circumcised by Jethro with the objection of Moses.
In the Bible it says in Exodus 4:25, Zipporah took a sharp stone and cut off the foreskin of her son and cast it at Moses’ feet, and said, “Surely you are a husband of blood to me!
This is the danger that I often speak of, believing that everything that has a dab of Bible in it is the truth.
There is only one truth!
The entirety of Your word is truth. Ps 119:160
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; Eph 1:13
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim 2:15
Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, James 1:18

  1. When I get sick for want of food, I’m diabetic, I get weak, feel like I’ll pass out. I will eat anything to regain my strength. To many folks would rather not set at the table of LIFE and feast. Any small anount will do. Like my eating just anything there are consequences. I question people about their relationship & understanding of Christ. It’s their desicion to search for more, but walking away wont get it.
