I Have No Pleasure

Osama Bin Laden is dead!
I have watched the crowds of Americans cheering, drinking, dancing, playing music, singing, and celebrating.
What I am about to say may upset some but please bear with me.
For a moment I saw a vision of the same type celebration only from an Islamic crowd when they have a victory.
The only difference is the American’s raise their cans of beer in the air; the Muslim’s raise their guns in the air.
We celebrate the death of a terrorist; one of many!
There is no need to think this thing is over, no more than if something happened to the President.
Someone would take his place and the government would continue.
I am somewhat appalled at the arrogance of Americans in the aftermath.
I’m sorry, I could not jump for joy at the news; it just wasn’t in me.
I was saddened, not by the demise of Bin Laden, but at the reaction of America.
Is this truly a day to celebrate?
Or is it a day to repent and seek God’s further guidance?
Never mind my opinion; what does God have to say about it?
As I live,’ says the Lord GOD,’I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’ Ezek 33:11
I am reminded of a story from the days of Jesus; There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Luke 13:1-5
I pray that we, as God’s people, called by His name will humble ourselves and pray, seeking God’s face, turning from our wicked ways. Then God will hear us from heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land!

  1. Well spoken. It’s a shame so many people are celebrating a mans death, especially when in all likelihood he is now in eternal torment. Christians get so caught up in what they think are “bad sins” but they are ignorant of what the Bible teaches – there is no value placed on sins. Sin is disobedience to God, whether you show favoritism or kill someone, whether you spread gossip or commit adultery, there is no difference.

While Bin Laden was misguided he thought he was serving God and was zealous about it. Where is this kind of dedication among Christians?

  2. I too am saddened, not by the death of Bin Laden, but by the way Americans are celebrating. My first thought when I heard the news was there was a man that was not a Christian and he was going to spend forever in hell. We as Christians should be out there spreading the gospel and holding high the banner of Christ and proclaiming the message of salvation. The sin of silence is just as deadly a sin as murder. My heart is heavy for America, those that are celebrating and also those who lost friends and family 10 years ago. I know this has to bring back all those horrible memories of that day. Pray that GOD will heal our nation and our people.

  3. I often listen to Kim Clement, the prophet, several times every week.
Last evening he told us that he was in prayer talking to God about Bin Laden, after his death, and he sensed a sadness in the heart of God. He asked the Lord why He was sad, and God said because He gave Bin Laden a chance to surrender to Him, and waited to give him time, but he would not. That, my friends, is why it took so long to find the man. God allowed him time to repent because He is a merciful God. The lesson from God, the Father, is that He does not rejoice when a person dies and the chosen destiny is eternity in hell. He wants every person to be saved!

  4. In Proverbs 24:17-18 Father God in saying if we rejoice over another persons correction God will stop the correction. God is full of pity and mercy if it were not true America would have known it a long time ago. The way it is I belive God is talking to us even today about our wrong (ungodly) atitudes with fires, droughts, floods, storms out of season. God is to be feared…but who believes that?
