Every family has their secrets, including mine.
Without giving details I have discovered severe alcoholics, adultery, spousal abuse, suicide, and dysfunctionality.
That’s just from the ones I know about.
What kind of family secrets have been lost from previous generations hundreds of years ago?
As recently as my dad’s funeral a week ago, I found out something I did know and was totally blown away.
Family secrets are not just limited to someone like you and me.
Jesus has some that came out in the genealogy.
There is Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; all known to have lied.
David was an adulterer and murderer.
Manasseh did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; he raised up altars for Baal, and made a wooden image, as Ahab king of Israel had done; and he worshiped all the host of heaven and served them. 2 Kings 21:2-3
And the list goes on and one.
One of the most fascinating is what is recorded in Matthew 1:5, Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth.
Though some may disagree, I believe this Rahab is the infamous prostitute from Jericho.
Regardless if you agree or not, there is no doubt that Ruth is the Moabitess.
It’s interesting that it is written that an Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the LORD forever. Deut 23:3
And yet you find a Moabite in the lineage of our Lord.
How loving and forgiving He is to cleanse each from the unrighteousness and curses of the generations.
What my ancestors have done; the sins they have committed have no affect on me!
I am washed clean by the blood of Jesus!
