What WOULD Jesus Do?

It’s amazing how so many use God’s word to condone the things they do that may be against God’s word.
I’ve heard people invoke the name of God in many immoral situations.
I’ve heard drug abusers say, “God’s really blessing me!”
I find that ironic.
No doubt they want or need deliverance; and perhaps the blessing to them is another day to be alive and have that opportunity.
But I saw something the other day that really got me to thinking.
It said “I drink because Jesus drank wine!”
I remember back in the 60’s when the long-hair movement started and so many said they had long hair because Jesus did.
Because Jesus did!
Let’s see what else Jesus did.
Jesus endured the temptation of Satan and said, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.'” Matt 4:10
Why not try that?
Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Matt 4:23
Why not do that?
He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, John 11:43-44
Why not raise the dead?
Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. Matt 14:19
Why not feed the multitudes?
Jesus also loved me and gave Himself for me. Gal 2:20
Why not die for someone else?
Why is it we only use Jesus as an excuse for something we want to do?
Before you take another drink and claim it in Jesus’ name, try doing a few more Jesus things. If you can accomplish all the other things He did, you’ll find no need or desire for the immoral portion of life.

  1. Our God is amazing! He keeps it smiple for us. Matt.4:23 for years I’d go into different neighborhoods to teach the Word of God to children. Other adults would ask me, “arin’t you afraid” . NO! God called me to it. John 11:43-44 A lady in our church had heart surgery. Doctor said she was dying and in a comma. I nerviously called to her from my home, in Jesus name. The next day she was awake & speaking to her husband with her eyes. She went to be with Jesus that same day. I called out to Tracy while standing over her dead body. Harold & I saw her eyes crack open and light glimered in her eyes. I heard myself tell her that if she wanted to stay with Jesus it was OK. She chose to stay with Him. Matt.14:19 A particular time I was teaching this very passage. I brought rolls…there was not enough for everone. I thanked Father God as Jesus had done, there were leftovers! It’s more the little stuff, day to day that seems difficult. But God is big enough.

  2. Yes He does Arlene:) One thing I have to comment on, about the wine, there’s nothing wrong or immoral about drinking it or even a beer occasionally, even though I don’t care to drink any wine or beer for that matter, it’s all things in moderation, wine is good for you, it’s just the amount you take in, too much of anything can be bad, alcohol, food etc. Jesus turned the water into wine at that wedding, but I definitely know what you mean about people using God as an excuse to support their way (and not God’s) of doing things, good thought today! =)
