A reason to give!

It’s a week of Sharathon at work and my mind is on equipment and fundraising.
After a couple of weeks of editing audio testimonials about giving, my mind is also on the reasons people give.
I heard a testimony of a mom whose daughter, Emily, has cancer. It came down to where the child was spending so much time in the hospital, and mom with her, that it was wearing down the family.
What they needed was a place to stay close to the hospital.
The mom and a friend started driving around and spotted a house with a fresh For Sale sign in front.
The friend told her there was no way she could afford this house but the mom insisted on stopping and asking the woman in the front yard the price. The worse she could say would be no.
The price of the house was in the $100,000’s.
The mom said thanks to the woman and turned to leave but she was stopped by the lady who wanted to know her story.
Mom told her.
The lady led her into the house where a picture of Emily was on the refrigerator.
She told her that they prayed for her everyday; then she told her husband to remove the For Sale sign, this house was taken.
With that she handed the keys to Emily’s mom.
Why would someone give a multi-hundred thousand dollar home to a stranger?
Because she cared!
Because someone had a need!
Because she had something that could fulfill another!
It is written of our God that He will give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; Isa 61:3
Why would God give something wholly beautiful and kind to sinfulness and ugliness?
There is a need and He loves us!
God has nothing to profit; we have nothing to give in return but praise and love but that would seem to be enough for God.
God’s enemy has a different thought on the matter; the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” Luke 4:6-7
God gives and certainly gave His own Son with no promise of anything in return. He gave because He loves.
Satan, on the other hand, said that he would only give if he was given something first.
Don’t let your giving be as Satan’s; give from your heart and soul to that person that is in need, even when it cannot be reciprocated to you!
