Viral Jesus!

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? Rom 10:14-15
Last time I looked at the meaning of “viral” as it applies in our world today.
One meaning is “becoming very popular by circulating quickly from person to person.’’
The example I used is a picture I made and posted on Facebook, which has now been shared almost 9400 times.
This is exactly how things are spread, whether it’s a picture, a disease, news, gossip, or the word of God; it’s shared from person to person.
Someone told me about Jesus and I accepted His forgiveness and salvation; the person that shared the Good News with me also had it shared with them from someone else; and on and on it keeps going.
But it also should go forward.
I share the Gospel with someone and if that person accepts Jesus as Savior, they should also share it with someone.
This hardly seems the definition of viral and that’s only because it’s not being spread quick enough.
The message of Jesus is not popular today, even among many of those that proclaim they are a follower.
What can be done to propagate the message; to make Jesus viral?
First there is prayer. Pray for your pastor and teachers that instruct in the Word. Ask for that message to convict hearts and bring that person to salvation. It is written in James 5:16 – Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.
That will bring us to another point – live the word! It’s the earnest prayer of the righteous that has great power. It’s not enough to say you “I am a believer in Jesus” you must also live it. For if you just listen and don’t obey, it is like looking at your face in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance. James 1:23
Share the message of Jesus yourself. The apostle said, “He has used our foolish preaching to save all who believe.” 1 Cor 1:21
I know; you may think you can’t preach but you already do in what you say, how you act, and the places you go.
Preaching doesn’t consist of big words and high ideas. Paul also said, “For Christ didn’t send me to baptize, but to preach the Good News — and not with clever speeches and high-sounding ideas, for fear that the cross of Christ would lose its power.” 1 Cor 1:17
The message of Jesus is simple and lives in those that have accepted Him as Savior.
If we, God’s people, will humble ourselves and pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, the God has promised to hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land.
I believe when that happens, then Jesus will be viral!

  1. How easy it is to live it. There are some that are unsure, even threatened by superiors who are fearful of their bosses finding out that God is being publicly glorifed. Me…My Bible says if I am ashamed of Jesus, He’ll be shamed of me before the Father & the angels. Even if that were not in there I love Jesus so much I want to tell the world!
