With Haste

The shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. Luke 2:15-17
They wasted no time searching for the Christ Child.
I don’t know how far they had to travel to get into town.
I don’t know what time of the night it was.
I don’t know how many stables there were in Bethlehem but no doubt only one contained a baby.
Regardless, they “came with haste” to find the Christ.
They either left the sheep or herded them all into town so they could visit the Christ Child.
They either tore down camp or left it as is so they could see the Christ Child.
There were many things working against the shepherds that night but they overcame it all to see the Christ Child.
Today it’s much easier to know where to find Christ.
He is presented in every church service.
He is a prayer away.
And though it is easy to find Him, many will not “come with haste”.
In fact, many will not come at all.
They will not overcome the obstacles of seemingly more important things, many of which could be taken care of some other time.
I remind you of what is written in Isa 55:6-7 – Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.
Turn away from the inconvenience of finding the Christ; the evil and wicked thoughts that hold you back.
Seek him with haste.

  1. Now you’ve done it, calling unsaved people evil and wicked. I believe that, of course, we ALL are evil and wicked until we come to a saving knowledge of the Christ of GOD. More than likely no unsaved people will read this but just on the off chance some do. I too, was wicked and full of sin until the Holy Spirit drew me to the Messiah. The Christ..The 2nd part of the Trinity!
