The Fullness of The Time

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, Gal 4:4
I’m late with today’s Morning Thought because I was quite busy last night and early this morning.
The “fullness of the time” had come for my daughter to give birth to her first child and after going into the hospital late yesterday, she delivered my grandson, Barrett, at 9:11 am this morning.
The delivery was very laborious and lengthy; the result is worth all the time, pain, and effort.
Barrett was 8 lbs. – 15oz and 20 ½ inches long; 1 oz shy of 9 lbs, not a tiny baby.
Born on December 23rd, which would have been my grandmothers 95th birthday. She would have loved it.
At this time of the year I can’t help but think on the birth of Jesus.
There is no way to know how much He weighed or how long Mary labored with Him.
We don’t know if He was born on an uncle’s birthday or shared the day with a sibling.
Unlike Barrett, we know Jesus was not born in the clean, sterile environment of a hospital with doctors, nurses, technicians, and staff all standing by for any type emergency.
Jesus wasn’t laid on a heated table and medically checked out.
He wasn’t given a cute little hat to cover His head or a clean diaper; you will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger. Luke 2:12
The couple did not share the birth of the Babe with family, but with animals and strangers from a nearby pasture.
Mary wasn’t given an IV with fluids, or an epidural for pain.
She didn’t have a trained physician to birth the Child.
And yet Mary brought Jesus into the world in the exact same way my daughter brought my grandson – in the fullness of the time…born of a woman.
What a special person you must be for the Creator to come in the form of His own creation. Not only that, but He also died as one of us; being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Phil 2:8
Not only was Jesus born in the same manner as you and Barrett, but He offers the same promise to you, me, and my grandson; this is the promise that He has promised us — eternal life. 1 John 2:25
I pray that in the fullness of your time you will accept Jesus as your Savior.

  1. We fullfilled Christmas this evening. Now “time” can be fullfilled with other family members that want to gather. We sang Happy Birthday to Jesus before opening the first package. Of course the dogs were involved which added to the hummer of it all. This has been a blessed day. Thank You Jesus!
