Direction for the New Year

As most women know most men hate to ask for directions. We will drive around and waste a tank of gas looking for a street sign or a landmark rather than stop and ask for directions.
After all men have an uncanny ability to read a map whether the top of the map is pointing north or not.
And many of us have a lousy sense of direction when it comes to God, whether we are men or women.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. Is. 55:8
God’s direction is the right way for us to always go but we don’t always go that way.
Jonah was told, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. Jonah 1:2, 3
Talk about a bad sense of direction, Jonah went the opposite way from the path that God had instructed him to follow.
This evading of God’s will cost Jonah some expensive lessons in treading water and deep sea diving via a great fish. He also learned first hand what is in the intestinal tract of sea life and the sensation of being regurgitated onto a beach.
Every time we decide to go our own way we learn many of the same lessons.
This New Year is a great opportunity to begin again and ask as Paul asked, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Acts 9:6
If you do God will say, “Hear, my son, and receive my sayings and the years of your life will be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered and when you run, you will not stumble.” Prov. 4:10-12

  1. Some of us like knowing exactly where we’re going. Father God doesn’t tell us everything. Just like a natural father. He’ll say we’re going to grandmas. He says nothing about the stops inbetween. After going down that road so many years I’ve learned no matter what comes up Father God will be there to take care of it. How much better for us if we’ll just go the Fathers way espicaly sence He knows whats down the road.
