A woman managed to force a violent intruder out of her home by reading Bible verses to him – even though he had already cut her throat.
Lindsay Wood, a devout Christian, fought her attacker with faith rather than force, and eventually he left her house after apologizing repeatedly.
Ms Wood required more than 20 stitches after her harrowing ordeal, but is now believed to be in a stable condition.
She even invited him to attend church with her.
I have long maintained the power of God’s word in us as affirmed by scripture.
The quickness and power of the Word; Heb 4:12-13 – For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
I do not know what Lindsay read to him but it cut him to the bone; it divided his soul and spirit.
It was the word of God that fought Satan in the temptation of Jesus.
Evil doers cannot stand in that word; they will fall and confess or flee.
The power of God’s word is evident in what He said to Jeremiah; Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts: “Because you speak this word, behold, I will make My words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.” Jer 5:14
Read the word.
Read the word.
Read the word.
Learn it, meditate on it, study it, speak it, pray it, bless it, proclaim it, live it, love it, give it away!
Read the word.
Read the word.
Read the word.
It can save a life and it may be yours!
Deut 30:14 – But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.
Years ago, we were visited by a group of Jehovah’s witnesses. I have just finished watching a show by John Ankerberg on how to witness to them. One way to deter them is to ask to pray for them in the Name of Jesus. I did that and the left, rather hurriedly.

I am so glad, even strengthened, to know that once we get the Word in ourselves the Holy Spirit will bring it out at just the right time. We don’t have to wonder what we might say or do. What God does is always in the perfect time, & the perfect way.
