Depend on the Father

Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Matt 18:3
Linda and I made a quick trip to Dallas and back after church on Sunday. We just had to see our grandson, Barrett.
He’s smiling, cooing, and laughing a bit now; and he’s more active with looking around.
His mom, Lindsey, was tough at that same age of 2 months. She cried a lot, had colic, wouldn’t let anyone else hold her, and just had an all round grumpy temperament.
Barrett is somewhat the same way. He prefers his mom to anyone else and only she can calm him down and soothe him like no other.
I am reminded of how dependent a baby is on the parents.
That dependence will not end when walking begins; or even when schooling begins.
A child remains dependent on parents for years and years. Even though our daughter is almost 30 years old, she still calls up her mom or dad for advice and information.
Jesus reminds us that every child of God should be just that – a child.
Christians should never out grow their dependence on the Father.
As a child depends on parents for love, food, shelter, security, help, and protection – so should every Christian depend on the Father for the same.
There should never be an independent Christian. This type is referred to in the Book of Revelation; you say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. Rev 3:17-18
Jesus also encourages each of us to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. Rev 3:18-19

Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. Matt 18:4-5

  2. I asked the Lord how to be child like, so He trained me & put me into a childrens menestery. I’ve watched adults, & I thought how much they are like children…stuburn, selfish, quick tempered. Some are quick to obey, tender, loving & helpful, & trusting. Many adults do not see the resemblance. Nor the reason we have to repeat our
selves time & time again. Hummmm, “line upon line…” is the way Father God deals with us. In this life I never want to reach an age where I have nothing more to learn…I’d be brain dead.
