Planting a seed – Part 4

Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest. Ps 126:5-6
To wrap this up, let me say that if you are a Christian then you are to be planting a Godly seed of faith into the lives of those that need Jesus as Savior.
You do this by what you say and what you do; your actions will always speak louder than words. To say you are a follower of Christ and have been redeemed from sin but to continue to live in sin is a confusing issue to a non-believer.
This is like planting a seed in the soil and never watering it – it won’t grow but will wither and die.
As a Christian you do not have to do all of this alone; there is help and it’s called the church fellowship.
This is where you can get encouragement, knowledge, strength, love, grace, mercy, teaching, preaching, instruction, and prayer to guide you in planting seeds of faith into the life of others.
Paul said, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one.” 1 Cor 3:6-8
If Paul would have planted and Apollos would not have watered, there may not have been that increase. If Paul had not planted and Apollos did water, there still would not have been that increase.
Likewise, if you plant and you don’t water there will be no increase. This is that double lifestyle I wrote about last time.
Each of us should help each other to plant and water so that God can give the increase.
Jesus said, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.” Matt 13:31-32
Jesus also said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed…” (Luke 17:6) which indicates that you plant the smallest of seed of faith and it can grow into the largest of trees.
Your own faith will increase as you lift up Jesus in word and action; others will be drawn to Him by the life you live!
This short series on planting seeds of faith all started with eight people planting a $6 dollar bills, the smallest of bills, into our church air conditioner fund. I remind you that the increase was over $800 that Sunday.
The principle is the same but it must always be done in faith!
