A Great Day for Fishing!

Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matt 4:19
Fishing is a sport of patience and determination.
It is a skill to know when the fish may be biting and what type bait or lure to use.
Just because something isn’t caught today doesn’t mean you quit fishing all together.
Fishing takes an investment of time, effort, and properly equipping yourself.
The spreading of the Christian message can easily be compared to fishing, since we are to be fishers of men.
Spreading the Gospel takes patience and determination.
Not everyone will “bite” today or tomorrow, sometimes you’ll have to go back.
Just because people don’t fall on their faces and repent every time you share Jesus with them, doesn’t mean you should quit.
Fishermen do not toss a worm or two overboard and try and entice the fish to jump into the boat.
Why should Christians believe that this approach will work on people?
There are those that will not “jump” into church with your bait of covered dish lunch, special speaker, or movie night.
Church is not that appealing to everyone. I enjoy it because I’m a part of it; I’m a member of the body. Many others feel out of place, especially new converts who are accustomed to doing their own thing on Sundays.
We have to lure others to Christ with the message of love and genuine concern for their eternal well being.
Most importantly is listening to the Holy Spirit as He speaks.
We often fish in the wrong place and there He is standing on the shore saying, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” John 21:6
Today is a wonderful day to fish for men!
Go catch someone for Christ today!

  1. Standing in line to pay for my gas I noticed the young man in front of me was bored. I told him it’s all about patience. It helps to make friends & talk. He said he’s from Houston. In an instance I remimbered a long ago time when a pastor hurt mom & me explaining how we just did not understand Houstonens even the Christian ones. So, I didn’t hear his next words. I think he remarked about such not being safe. When mom & I were there we walked a mile through dangerous neghborhoods (we didn’t know that untill later) without a thought. I wondered why we were stared at. We were leaning on God for dads recovery from open heart surgery. I hope those fearless walks spoke to hearts…a sermon is best heard when it’s lived…you know. Any way you just don’t know how nice a person you may be next to if you never speak to them. Shot, they may have a WORD for you. So, go fishing!
