What is the value?

What is the value of a baseball?
You can pick one up at Academy for $2.99.
Put it in the hands of a little leaguer and the value may drop.
Put it in the hands of a major leaguer and it may also drop in value.
If it becomes winning ball in a World Series, then the value could go up.
There is an 84-year-old baseball that has been sitting in a drawer for years, but now the owner is hoping it will pay off her son’s medical school debt.
New York Yankee slugger Lou Gehrig smashed the ball into the bleachers for a home run during the 1928 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Gehrig hit the homer off Hall of Fame pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander while teammate Babe Ruth was on base and called it his most significant homerun at the time, according to a newspaper account.
The ball will be auctioned on Tuesday at the All-Star FanFest in Kansas City, Mo., and the predictions are it could fetch $100,000 to $200,000.
I can’t imagine paying $200,000 for a $2.99 baseball. However I do understand the increased value and historic significance of the ball.
Jesus asked the question, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matt 16:26
What kind of value do you put on yourself?
It’s more than how much you earn and how much you own! It’s about how others feel and think about you.
God already thinks very highly of you; God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:8
Do you value yourself enough to repent of your sin and accept Jesus as your Savior?
What do you value the eternal soul of your family and friends?
Even that one person that has nothing good to say, is always mean and detrimental, and no one really likes is loved by God.
Salvation is the best value around! And it’s eternal!

  1. Value is determined by what we think. A renewed mind, a mind having be cleansed by the Blood of Christ, thinks so differently that an unclean mind. That mind is on the things of the world & wants what it can get now. Where as a clean mind sees true valve…a person is more valuable than anything on earth. So much so that it would go through earthly hell to be a witness for Christ. And hold out hope when it seems hope is gone.
