Are we tired of God?

O my people, what have I done to you? What have I done to make you tired of me? Mic 6:3
What has God done that we have strayed so far from him?
I noticed that most of the churches around us have gone to a 3 night revival. I remember not too many years ago a revival started on a Sunday night and continued until the next Friday. Many times that first Sunday included a dinner-on-the-ground and perhaps an afternoon singing.
Now I’m not disrespecting those churches that have chosen to go fewer nights; I understand.
Linda and I just discussed the other evening how we use to make it to several revival meetings during the summer.
We haven’t done that in years.
What has happened to us has happened to others.
Our lives have become busier.
We work long hours and hard all day only return home to work some more.
Church is no longer a once a month or once a week event; it can be a minimum of three times a week and more.
We keep more in touch with each other than ever before with cell phones, text messages, and social networking.
The Lord started in Malachi by saying-
You have shown contempt for my name!
“But you ask, ‘How have we ever shown contempt for your name?’
“You have shown contempt by offering defiled sacrifices on my altar.
“Then you ask, ‘How have we defiled the sacrifices?’
“You defile them by saying the altar of the Lord deserves no respect. 8 When you give blind animals as sacrifices, isn’t that wrong? And isn’t it wrong to offer animals that are crippled and diseased?” Mal 1:6-8
Do we offer God the leftovers of our time and efforts? Do we give a tithe or just what we can spare?
I believe God wants us to do our very best but our very best is getting less and less.
Is it any wonder our nation is in trouble?
How can such a people that “hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights’ be so far from that truth.
What has God done that has made us tired of Him?
He has loved us and blessed us. Is this what we have grown tired of?
That only leaves one option; if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us. Heb 10:26-29

  2. Once a pastor told me that sense his congeration was so large & diverse in their level of faith that he did not preach certain truths.I still love that pastor & church! But while I was there (8 yrs.) I was feed, blessed, but I left every service knowing there was more. We moved away & my search for a church took two years. I was set back at one. My goodness, they were bouncing off the walls, people had their hands in the air…it was so different from what I was used to. I’ve now been there 25 years. No subject is too meaty. At times I leave there chewing, wondering, praying…awed at God! It is true that God never changes! It is also true that as we seek Him He will reveal more of Himself to our hearts. KEY = “seek Him”.
