Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. James 4:17
A friend stopped by my office and shared a story.
Tom is very pro-life and by that I mean he is the type to actually stand on public access in front of an abortion clinic and pray.
While praying, he was approached by someone who is very, very pro-life; the type of person that will actually confront those going in for an abortion.
She needed his help in counseling a couple.
The couple ended up being a youth minister and the pastor’s daughter. They were very distraught over their decision to abort but they were being pressured to do so.
The pressure was coming from the elders of the church and the pastor! It seems that such a birth would be an embarrassment to the ministry.
Tom counseled with the couple to no avail. They entered the clinic and killed the baby.
This smells surprisingly of David.
Think of the parallel; David committed adultery with Bathsheba.
The youth minister committed fornication with the pastor’s daughter.
David covered up the sin with another sin; he had Bathsheba’s husband killed.
This young couple, and church, have tried to right a sin with another sin – the killing of the baby.
I know David mourned the life of his child, though it died.
I don’t know about the couple. I can only imagine the guilt they may feel at what they have done. I can only imagine the damage that has been done to the ministry anyway! And I know, for me, an abortion would be more of an embarrassment than a birth!
It seems the church is not presenting herself as the pure bride that she needs to be.
Too many are falling headlong into false doctrine, heretical teaching, and sacrilegious belief.
For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one husband—Christ. But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed. 2 Cor 11:2-4
Do not let the secular world convince you of what is right and wrong. Find out the truth for yourself in God’s word.
This story saddens me for so many reasons. On a personal level. who was being feared? Not God!
