What do you want?

The Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” 1 Kings 3:5
What would you ask from God if he offered you anything you want?
Many things run through my mind; would I ask for lots of money, health, or world peace?
No, I don’t think I would.
Would I ask to be a convincing and convicting minister or to have great Biblical knowledge?
Maybe I would ask for the gift of healing or prophecy.
I could ask for a bigger church building with all of the modern conveniences.
Solomon was probably no different from me; so what was his answer?
“Give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”
The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 1 Kings 3:9-10
Honestly, I would ask God to bless me with the boldness to proclaim His word, to teach His people His word, and to rightly pastor His people.
But these are the things I can have and do!
I have His word and all I have to do is read it and proclaim it.
I have His word and I can read it and live it.
I can pray and seek God’s guidance as a pastor.
I want my life to be totally pleasing to my Lord and Savior.
What would you ask?
