Finally, two men came forward who declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the Temple of God and rebuild it in three days.'” Matt 26:60-61
An ambulance drives by and everyone is curious as to what has happened and to whom. The telephone rings and a story is told.
Then another and another but they’re all different stories.
You have got to get the story right.
We’ve all heard rumors and stories that turned out to be totally wrong.
I remember parking my car up at a neighbor’s house because I rode to work with husband of the home; so did several other teenage boys like me.
The next thing I know there is a rumor that I am having an affair with the missus of the house because my car is parked up there all day long while her husband is gone to work.
You got to get your story straight.
I guess I have been in good company. Even King David had rumors about him; Ps 69:12 – I am the favorite topic of town gossip, and all the drunks sing about me.
I’ve also heard many things about others only to find out they were all wrong.
Personally, when I hear something about someone that I know is wrong, I like to chase it backwards to the source.
Many times it’s a misunderstanding; a word or meaning is changed and that alters the truth.
Rumors and gossip is can kill an innocent person and gossip separates the best of friends. Prov 16:28
A gossiping tongue causes anger! Prov 25:23
Even Jesus had what He said altered, rumored, and gossiped.
“All right,” Jesus replied. “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
“What!” they exclaimed. “It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple, and you can rebuild it in three days?” But when Jesus said “this temple,” he meant his own body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered he had said this, and they believed both the Scriptures and what Jesus had said. John 2:19-22
Get the story right!
Why are saints so quick to judge another. When I am in pain, I’m grouchy, (unfriendly) . When I’m looking for something I may go into questionable places. Why should that make my Christianity questionable? You’re right, GET THE STORY RIGHT…GET THE WHOLE STORY.
