Judgment of a Nation

The date was September 11, 2001.
Everyone knows what happened that bright, sunny Tuesday morning; but how could it have happened to the United States of America?
We’re the good guys! We help others.
We were the ones that led the rebuilding of Berlin after the end of WWII.
We are the ones that seek peace treaties, undo dictatorships, and help set up democracies.
We loan/give money to the nations of the world.
However, we have forgotten how we got here.
On September 12, 2001, a Wednesday night, I found myself in church sharing from Judges 2:11-14 – Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served the Baals; and they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt; and they followed other gods from among the gods of the people who were all around them, and they bowed down to them; and they provoked the Lord to anger. They forsook the Lord and served Baal and the Ashtoreths. And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel. So He delivered them into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.
I maintained that the fault of the attacks lied with us. Our apostasy was at fault.
You can agree or disagree with that statement but you’ll have to agree that America has strayed.
We have removed God from the schools and other public forums. We have allowed the rise of immoral behavior and given it protection under the law. We’ve become tolerant of more than just people and lifestyles; we have become tolerant of sin.
Last night we watched a video called Isaiah 9:10.
The moderator is Rabbi Jonathon Cahn maintains the same idea that I have, though he uses a different scripture.
Isaiah 9:10 – The bricks have fallen down, But we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores are cut down, But we will replace them with cedars.
Though it sounds like a positive verse of a peoples determination not to be kicked in the teeth and stay down, Rabbi Cahn shows that it is a verse of an obstinate people throwing there arrogance in the face of God.
This verse was repeated by many of our national leaders in the days (and years) following 9/11.
Is America under the judgment of God?

  1. I have read the book, but I understand the movie is way better. I get down and pray specifics, 2nd Chronicles 7:14. I won’t give the spoiler here, but we do know what is required of us. (His people)
