The Petition

Almost ½ of the states in the union have petitions to secede from the rest of the country.
The state of Texas has well over 100,000 signatures, significantly more than the 25,000 needed to garner the attention of the White House.
All the talk about secession is on the heels of a country divided over the presidential election.
So what would happen if the states did secede and form their own governments or a new union?

Social security, medicare, and Medicaid are federal programs. If a state no longer belong to the United States of America, then would the government have the obligation to continue to pay?
Now my own thoughts on this, the government has taken money from me since 1975. They’ve taken it in the form of federal taxes and social security. The Social Security money should be mine but I may never see my return on it.

What about highways.
Texas owns it’s on Farm-to-Market, Ranch Roads, County roads, and State Highways; but what about the US Highways that traverse the state, as well as the Interstate Highway system? I’m not sure any state could survive without federal funds to assist with the upkeep of this road system.

Would we need a passport to travel from one seceded state into one that hasn’t? It would be like going into a foreign country.

There are so many things that haven’t been really been thought through. And the last time a bunch of state seceded it caused a war and the American loss of life was greater than any other war that the US has fought.

These petitions are nothing more than disgruntled retribution for not getting their way and winning an election. It is like a toddler throwing a fit and running away from home. Where are you going to go?

If you want to petition, then petition God!
It is written this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-15

Seek God and His righteousness and holiness. Trust in Him with your whole heart! Then all will be ok!
Give Him your petitions!

****UPDATE: All states have filed a petition now. Originally  the states that filed to secede on the White House website: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
In order to be reviewed by the Administration, a petition must have 25,000 signatures within 30 days. Texas and Louisiana have exceeded the requirement.

  1. This happens after every election, someone (some state) chooses to be offended, and they threaten to secede. Just because your guy was not elected, you cannot pick up your toys and go home. I don’t necessarily care for the choice it appears our system made, there probably was corruption, but wicked words and empty threats do us no good. We are to be a light in this world, not a smudge…. 2. Actually, since Texas was a Republic, after winning it’s freedom from Mexico, it could once again become a Republic, if the citizens desired to do this. As for the federal highway system, this is paid for by the federal taxes we pay on each gallon of fuel that we buy, and we don’t get back nearly as much as other states who pay less in fuel taxes. Mainly, I think it’s a good way to release frustration at how many people are so blinded by the POTUS, and don’t have a clue about his plans for this once great nation. I was born and raised in Texas. If my family had moved to another country when I was 12 and we moved back in about 14 years, I would not have recognized the United States, with all the unGodly changes that had taken place. My trust and faith is in God and I know He’s in control since he knows when a sparrow falls to the ground. I signed the petition, and felt better after doing it, LOL! Released a lot of my frustration at what I see happeniing, because the Church has basically turned it’s back on God, or at least a large portion of the Church. However, I know that God always has a remnant to carry on the message of Jesus Christ and the salvation He offeres.
