1 Cor 10:11 These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.

There is no doubt that the end times are here and every day brings you closer to the return of the Messiah Savior.
God does not let you go on without a warning. It is not a new warning but one from days long gone.

So what is the warning?
These things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did, or worship idols as some of them did. As the Scriptures say, “The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged in pagan revelry.” And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day.
Nor should we put Christ to the test, as some of them did and then died from snakebites. And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death. These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age. 1 Cor 10:6-11

The warning is this: avoid idolatry, stay away from sexual immorality, do not be impatient and discouraging to others, and don’t grumble and be faithless.

I know it is so easy to look at the list and think “that doesn’t apply to me!”
Paul continues, if you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. 1 Cor 10:12

Many fall today because of what they believe about the next verse of scripture. How many times have you heard someone say “God won’t allow any more on you than you can bear”?
Most get that from the King James translation – There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Cor 10:13

This verse does not say what many think it says. There is a word that connects it and finishes it. The word is “but”. It completes the verse – but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

The NLT translates this way – The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Cor 10:13

With the “unbearable” comes a way of escape, a way out, a way to endure it!
That way is always founded in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Why are so many on pills, have anxiety, stress, health problems, and so on? Though they may believe in Jesus as Savior, they’ve yet to let go of it all and make Him Lord!
