Called early?

renault“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Jer 1:5

Thinking way back, I never really thought that God had some purpose for me – though I do now!
I’ve always believed in God but did not accept the forgiveness offered by Jesus until I was almost 18 years old.

I was told I was born early one May morning in 1957. Although I was there, I really don’t remember it.
I was quite large for my age, weighing in at 9lbs-12oz. I ate almost constantly; or so I’m told.

My earliest memory is mom carrying me to the car, a Renault with front doors that opened backwards.
She sat me in her lap and put my shoes on.
I have no idea what year that was or how old I was but I remember it like it was yesterday.

I don’t remember any calling of God on my life at that time or in the years to come. But it’s evident he did have something for me to do.
My life wasn’t all peaches and cream. There were some rough spots and difficult times.
The word says when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. Rom 5:3-4

And so it does!

To be continued.

  1. My mom said I was 14 months old in my first memory. Dad was chaseing me out of the tomato patch. I was maybe 6 when I was fasenated with a chair that was my size at a church. There a lady said I was Jesus’ little lamb. My thoughts were, I don’t want to go to heaven if I have to grow four legs & be wooly. Now I can see I was meant to be His. I’m so thankful God never let go of me.
