It’s strange to me the things one remembers in life.
It’s like I remember mom carrying me to the car and putting my shoes on but I don’t remember anything else around that time.
I’m not very sure that I can remember things in the right order.
I remember February 1960! The Houston area got over 4-inches of snow. It was cold, wet, and slushy.
We lived in a little neighborhood that had sprung up on the north side of Highlands, Texas, not too far from where Texans had won their independence at San Jacinto.
Our little neighborhood was called Highlands Park and it consisted of rows of streets with rows and rows of houses.
The snow coated the area with a pristine white dusting.
I don’t remember playing in the snow. I don’t remember throwing snowballs at the other neighborhood children. I don’t remember mom making snow ice cream.
I was only 2 years and 9 months old and I can see me standing in my boots in the “deep” snow. I recall how cold it was and actually remember thinking, “What is this?”
What I recall most about that snowstorm is the snowman that daddy built. It was huge, especially to a 2 year old.
I can still feel the sun on my face as daddy stood me on the snowman and took my picture. The sun was so bright I kept shutting my eyes.
I still hear daddy’s voice, “Open your eyes. Open your eyes!”
Today my eyes are opened to what God’s word says about our memories.
It is written God requires an account of what is past. Eccl 3:15
And every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. Matt 12:36
Paul tells us we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Rom 14:10-12
How can you give an account when you cannot remember everything?
Just as I experienced the days between mom putting on my shoes and me standing on a snowman, all of your experiences – your entire life is stored somewhere in your memory.
And our Creator will extract this for you.
As He said to a rich man that had died, “Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things;” Luke 16:25
I believe God will call out all of our memories.
Words said, long forgotten, will be heard again.
Actions that harmed others will be vividly seen.
All of your deeds will be remember by you; including the times you may have rejected Jesus as Savior.
You don’t want that as part of your memory.
Like me, you’ll want to remember when you bowed down and confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.
I did that! And I remember the day well. January 15, 1975!
I don’t think that’s a day I can ever forget!
Good….

I know “about” the day and date I became born again, but I never did write it down. I am thankful that my Lord Jesus knows the exact second!
