Forgive and Forgiven

forgive meAs previously stated, there were some things that happened to me that caused me some major problems.
I inflicted my problems onto someone else.

As I grew older I ended up with two problems. There was someone I absolutely hated because of what they had done to me; and there was someone I had done almost the same thing to.
There were times I would have loved to run into that guy. I would have tried to knock his block off – or worse.

Even after I became a Christian I had feelings of animosity and hate.
One day I heard from God. He told me, “If you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Mark 11:25-26
I knew what I had to do. I had to forgive him. I did in my heart and vowed that if I ever ran into him I would do it in person.

The day came when I found his sister on Facebook. I private messaged her and inquired about her family.
She told me that she was the only one left. Her mom, dad, and brother were all gone.
My opportunity was lost. I can only forgive him in my heart and to God.

Now for part two.
Not only did I need to give forgiveness – I needed it.
I contacted the person that I had inflicted when I was younger.
This is how the messaging went:
ME: let me apologize to you and ask your forgiveness for anything that I may have ever done to you that may have caused you any problems. I’m sorry. I was a little messed up way back then.
THEM: Thank you for your apology. I dealt with that in 1995. Having Christ in my life helped me get thru it. As a Christian, we learn how to forgive and let go of the past. I’m so glad and proud of you becoming a pastor.

Through obedience to God’s word I realize that I am set free from the past. The past was a ball and chain on my life but that is gone.

It is written he who has died has been freed from sin. Rom 6:7
You must die to yourself in order to live in Christ. Only Jesus can set you totally free from the bondage of the past and present. He can set you free from what the future holds.

Give forgiveness to someone else and receive it for yourself!

  1. There are a few things in scripture that lay it on the line like this scripture in mark you will be forgiven like you forgive… another ones say you will be judged by the measure that you judge with.. these are very important principals we should learn to do..

  2. It’s not always obvious when God speaks. Nor does He speak in the same way all the time. A total stranger walked past me & flashed a soft smile. (it was God speaking to me) I turned to find her receptive to a hug. We spoke of Christ as Savior & His love. If we can walk in forgiveness from times past & present events Father will manifest His love to us through unexpected ways. Knowing that not all folks are the same (bad) makes this world a little more beautiful. … I am so thankful for Godly friends who believe in forgiveness.
