I have a Facebook friend that lives just down the road from me and recently she and I have been picking at each other about our personalities. She’s Type A and I’m Type B.
One of our conversations went like this:
HER-Finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Whew!
ME-I’m type B… I see the light every day.
HER- Sometimes you type B people just irk me! You need to take some stress supplements so that you can see life from our side…hehehe
ME-Type B’s, like me, do get stressed out! Stressed over slopping everything together so we can go have fun.
ME- HEY… don’t laugh at our plight!
ANOTHER FRIEND-What are you doing in a tunnel? What about all the spiders & such? Take a flashlight with you! Better yet, keep a “special light” within you at all times & you will never have to worry about tunnels again.
Now that was all in fun but Type A’s tend to be achievement driven with a tendency towards perfection. In other words, it has to be just right.
This can lead to an increase in stress.
It doesn’t matter if your personality trait increases your stress tendency or not. Stress is something that every one faces, including me.
Being able to deal with it is something not everyone discovers.
I have found that more dependence in faith can lead you away from stress. However the stressful part for many is letting go of the things that stress them out because that takes it out of their control, which is quite ironic.
To end stress they must release control, which stresses them out.
Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matt 11:28-30
What is the purpose of a yoke? A yoke causes two animals to rely on each other. A yoke joins two animals into a single effort. A yoke prevents one animal from falling. A yoke guides both animals in the same direction. But most of all, a yoke brings purpose, fellowship, help, and encouragement.
Faith in Jesus is not suppose to stress you out – it is to relieve you from the pressures of life.
I think the main problem is dealing with others that aren’t living by faith.
Paul said, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” 2 Cor 6:14
How stress free would life be if you and those around you lived in the will of God and walked more by faith?
Let me ask you this – how stressed out are you when you worship and praise God?
That’s where God wants you should be all the time.
