The Foolishness of the Bible?

Bible_paperThe message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. 1 Cor 1:18

I recently listened about a conversation where a man said the Bible was written by some man and is just a book of stories and fairytales. The miracles didn’t happen. It was all made up to control people through fear of a big, bad god that would toss everyone into hell for not doing right.

People like this go on to say the Bible is full of contradictions. Yes, for those whose lives contradict the way the Bible says to live – it would be filled with contradictions.

I’m not surprised at a statement like that. There are many that don’t want the Bible to be true. After all, if the Bible were true then sin would be a reality along with judgment and eternal punishment.

If the Bible isn’t true then there are no consequences of your action. You can live as you please and there is nothing to look forward to when you die.

If the Bible isn’t true then the mystery remains of how everything got here. Did we evolve from a single-cell creature that crawled out of the ocean, sprouted arms and legs, climbed into the trees, and eventually came back down and walked on two legs as a human being?

However if the Bible is true then it is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Heb 10:31

Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us. Heb 10:29

The message of the Bible will always be foolishness to those bound for destruction.
It is a message they hope is not true.

I believe it is true and so for me it is the power of God.

  1. very very true! what an amazing God we have. He could of created us simply robots!!! Can’t wait to see Him in His glory, that’s why today’s sufferings are nothing compare with that Day. Thank you for your encouraging thoughts.

  2. Why are non-believers so concerned about disproving the Bible? If their right, then why care what others believe? I believe because God made Himself real to me! And after all these years He continues to share His heart with me, to reveal His ways of love and power to overcome. He is always doing something with me making my love for Him grow.
