Read it over and over and over and over

Wise FatherOne night a couple of weeks ago, our friend Courtney told Haylee and Braeden the story of Kind Nebuchadnezzar and his ninety-foot statue of gold.
Everyone was suppose to bow down to it when the music started playing. The penalty for disobedience was to be killed by being thrown alive into a huge fire pit.

Three men disobeyed – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
They were condemned to die but did not because God saved them and was even with them in the fire.

Just a few nights ago Haylee decided to tell her mom the same story. I listened and heard small variations of what Courtney had told.
It seems Haylee was developing a few gaps in the story and made up a few parts or changed a few words.

It made me realize the importance of reading the Bible over and over. It’s not like a book you read once and move on; or a movie you see once and move on.
The Bible is living and powerful. It breaths and is the very breath of God.

This is why it is written to commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deut 11:18-20

We must teach our children and grandchildren this precious word of God.
I feel like I failed miserably with my own two children. I am trying to do better with my grandchildren.
Lord, help me be diligent to do so!
