Matt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you.
It’s an old word that is seldom used or seen these days – a yoke.
In an agrarian society it was quite common but not today.
A yoke is a wooden beam that goes around the neck of two animals for the purpose of them working together, as in plowing a field or pulling a heavy load.
The two had to go in the same direction and at the same pace. If one stopped, they both stopped. And pulling together lightened the work load.
A yoke was a common farm tool in Jesus’ day and so the meaning was clear – He wants you and Him to be connected together and going the same direction at the same time. Whatever ministry He has planned for you will not be a heavy burden because He shares in the work of it.
Abba Father, what a privilege and honor to be yoked with the Savior and doing Your work. I yield myself to your leading. In Jesus’ name, YES&AMEN
I am so blessed to be yoked to the Son of God!
