Planting seed

Mark 4:3-4 “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell…”

Jesus told this parable and the seed ended up by the wayside, on stony ground, in the thorns, and on good fertile soil.

I don’t know about you but I’m pretty specific about where I plant seeds. I always have a garden spot for veggies or flowers. It’s not like I just toss Zinnia seeds out into the middle of the yard or scatter peas and corn in my pasture.

The word of God is different. When I preach I may be specific about the scripture and the subject but not everyone receives it the same.

Some take the message so personal they will think I’ve pried into their personal life or have heard some gossip about them.

Others believe the message is for someone else.

Someone else is just bored and able to walk out without blinking an eye.

And then there is the heart that is softened by the message and allows the words to take root and grow in them.

Even when I am specific about approaching a certain individual with the Gospel of Jesus, it doesn’t always mean that it’s going to grow into salvation for them.

Then again, I’m just planting the seed. Someone else will water and God will give the increase. (1 Cor 3:5-8)

Abba Father, let Your word sprout into hearts ready to receive it. Let Your word become salvation for those that need it. Whether I plant or whether I water, let me do my part! In Jesus’ name, YES&AMEN

  1. How easy life is when we allow God to do for us as He has said. We love because He first loved us, we forgive because we know the freedom of His forgiveness toward us, We go and tell because we know the TRUTH. Then we let God do His part…no one can do it better!
