Everyday Peace!

No one wants a fair weather friend. You want someone that will stick by your side in good times and especially the bad; someone that will be there for you when you are at your lowest.

The Lord deserved no less.

I’m not sure what all of the disciples were doing after the arrest of Jesus. It’s known that John and Peter stayed fairly close, mingling with the crowd. John even made some attempt to see the high priest.

Peter, on the other hand, is well known for his denial of Jesus before the crowing of the rooster.

But what of Matthew, James, or Thomas? There is nothing written of their whereabouts during this time. One can only assume they also followed and mingled in the crowd.

It’s clear that none stood by Jesus during these final hours. None did as Peter suggested he would do,

“Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” Matt 26:35

After His resurrection, Jesus is suddenly found in the midst of the disciples. His first words were not of condemnation or rebuke. His first words were not “I told you so!” He sought no revenge and harbored no ill-will towards them.

His first words were,

“Peace be with you.” John 20:19

I believe these words are meant for you today. The Lord wants you to have peace – the peace that only comes from a Christ-centered life.
The peace that comes from giving Him all your anxieties and stress.
The peace that comes through prayer and thanksgiving.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7

May you experience God’s peace today!
