The Message

You are surrounded by messages every day; messages through the form of texting, Facebook, and Twitter. A message is left on the refrigerator to do the dishes or clean up your room.

There are messages coming across the TV, radio, iPhones, and Androids.

Cryptic messages come in the form of subtle hints when someone wants you to do something. Or when a girl likes a boy, she can send a message by the way she giggles or twist her hair.

The nightly news seems to give one bad, depressing message after message.

Even God has sent a message to you and, like all the other messages you get today, you can choose to skim over it, read it, ignore it, or accept it and apply it.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Cor 1:18

God’s message is the “message of the cross”!

His message is different from all the rest. He doesn’t want something from you so He’s not dropping a subtle hint. In fact, He wants something for you!
He is giving you a message of love, salvation, and life.

There will be many that will hear that message and think it’s foolish, stupid, or antiquated.
It is a message that has been stomped on, ridiculed, rebuked, reviled, rejected, and it has been to the Supreme Court, where it was reviewed.

The message is simple but very powerful.
The message can and will change your life.

The message is this – God loves you and wants to forgive you of all your wrongs. But He has chosen the only way to do this is through the death of Jesus on a cross, some two thousand years ago.
His message includes a footnote:

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Rom 10:9, 10,13

End of message!

15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
