I’ve been living at my current address for 40 years and something happened last night that has never happened before – we were evacuated!
Over the past ten years there has been a boom in oil and gas drilling in the area. There are a number of wells scattered throughout the region.
Yesterday afternoon around 4pm a gas well had a blow-out. The well is a little over two miles from us and the whoosh of the gas could clearly be heard. Around 7pm a sheriff’s deputy dropped by and said we had to evacuate. He also said the well was capped but a two-mile gas cloud had formed and would not dissipate.
So we evacuated down to the church and opened it up for other evacuees and didn’t get the word to return home until close to 10pm.
I guess this will be a part of life in the area from now on. There are wells all around me, included a new pad just a mile to the south.
I think an evacuation notice should be part of my life anyway. Jesus said that when He returns it will be much like it was in the days of Lot. (Luke 17:28)
So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, “Get up, get out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city!” But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking. Gen 19:14
Lot tried to evacuate his family from the city but his life did not reflect his words.
Christians today need to be sounded the evacuation order of repentance – turn your life around and trust Jesus as Savior. A gas well known as hell is about to blow and the Lord is coming to get those who are His!
