…a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb 4:12

Discernment is a difficult thing for many people. It’s a door that swings both ways.

First, there are good hearted individuals that have a genuine love and desire to help others. The thing is there are those that don’t really need help but will make the appearance they do.

There are some that are skeptical and suspicious of others and often pass up the opportunity to help someone that really needs it.

If only we could discern thoughts and the intents of the heart.

Jesus could! Often it is written,

But Jesus, knowing their thoughts… Matt 9:4

Some thoughts are easily picked up on while others are masked behind great acting. I remember one man that came to church and helped with putting insulation in the attic. I thought it was an act of charity but found out his wife had to pay him to do it.
And years later he killed two people and is on death row even today!

The Word of God make it clear and sometimes Christians forget that there is a way to weed demons out.

Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 1 John 4:1-3

With this in mind, every Christian should arm themselves with God’s word. Each should be well versed in the reading and presentation of it. It is only the word of God that comes as a sword into the life of someone and is able to discern all intentions.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Heb 4:12-13
