Ask for it!

If you could have anything in the world what would it be?

Would you ask for something for yourself or something to benefit everyone? Would it be for your family or your community?

Would you ask for money or world peace? Would you ask to end slavery and child abuse or the end of terrorism?

There are so many things you could ask for!

A young king was given that decision – to ask for anything! The benefactor was God Himself.

“Ask! What shall I give you?” 1 Kings 3:5

Solomon’s answer in itself gives a glimpse of the wisdom he already possessed and would soon have in abundance.

“Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” 1 Kings 3:9

An understanding heart – wisdom!

Wouldn’t it be great if you could make wise decisions, not only for yourself but for others that sought your advice?

How wonderful to be able to say just the right words to someone that is grieving over the death of a husband.
Or for someone that is so mired down by sin, to be able to say the right words of deliverance to bring them out!

You can!

When you are a Christian you have a Helper – the Holy Spirit! When you listen to the Holy Spirit you are a wise person.

The Spirit can direct you in where to go and what to say. The Spirit can direct you to pick up a gallon of milk and drop it off to someone that is praying for just a gallon of milk.

If you want to be led by the Holy Spirit in such a way, then ask!

You do not have because you do not ask. James 4:2

If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:14
