The news this morning deals with the South Carolina legislature deciding to remove the Confederate flag that flies over the statehouse.
Flags symbolize nations, states, groups, and companies.
Flags have meanings, like a white flag.
Flags give messages, like 2 square flags with a black square in the middle, which warns of a hurricane.
An upside down flag is a sign of distress.
Flags have names like Old Glory, Union Jack, Broken Trident, Stars and Stripes, Maple Leaf, Eureka Jack and Star Spangled Banner.
Flags use to have more respect and more importance than today. Flags (banners) flew over the tribes of Israel to unite everyone in that tribe.
They were raised in battle to rally the troops.
We will rejoice in your salvation and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! Ps 20:5
Even God has a Flag.
“And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious.” Isa 11:10
That flag for all people is Jesus.
He is a Banner that gives a message – you need a Savior.
He is a Banner to rally the people to Himself.
He said of Himself,
And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself. John 12:32
Fly the Banner of Jesus Christ over your life. Let Him be high and lifted up!
