The qualification is a short one today but it has the ability for a long term change in the life of any individual.

For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict. Titus 1:7-9

Just!

For such a small word it carries so many big meanings!
In a wide sense, upright, righteous, virtuous, and keeping the commands of God.
Someone whose way of thinking, feeling, and acting is wholly conformed to the will of God. Approved and acceptable to God.

By reason of what the Bible says about mankind’s righteousness, justification can only come through the redemptive act of Jesus Christ.
So for a church leader to be just is to live clothed with the righteousness of Christ.

The Bible only mentions a handful of just men – Noah, Joseph, the husband of Mary, Simeon, Joseph of Arimathea, and a Roman centurion named Cornelius.
It was Solomon in His wisdom that declared that even just men are sinners.

Noah is said to be a just man and perfect in his generation but it also says that he found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
If it weren’t for God’s grace there would be no justification through Jesus.

And although only five are called just men in the Bible, I know that I am a just man in Jesus!
