Question their Faith

Pope Francis said this concerning Donald Trump, “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.”
Donald Trump’s response was this, “For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful.”

I disagree with what Mr. Trump said. I think Christian leaders need to question others with some degree of accountability.
For far too long the church has become slothful in the approach and condemnation of sin.

In the early days of the church, the members began selling possessions and bringing the proceeds to the apostles.

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. Acts 5:1-2

What happened next will be something Mr. Trump will dislike – Peter, a religious leader, questions a man’s faith.

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. Acts 5:3-5

Another story happened on a stormy night on the Sea of Galilee. After a long day, Jesus slept in the stern of the ship when a storm arose. The disciples panicked and awakened Jesus with their concern.
He got up and with a word – calmed the storm!
Then this religious leader said something that Mr. Trump will dislike.

He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” Mark 4:40

I would like the opportunity to talk with each of the candidates about their faith. This is what evangelism is all about – questioning those about what they believe and sharing the truth of Jesus with them.
