Everyone is so concerned about being judged by someone else. From time to time I see the same meme on Facebook that says “don’t judge me because I sin differently from you!”
Personally, I think it’s the dumbest thing ever said!
Christian’s should help each other and sometimes there must be a rebuke if sin is involved.
As always, don’t take my word for it – go to the source.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Tim 3:16-17
Now you may be telling me right now, “the scripture should rebuke and correct me…not you!”
However, if you’re not reading the scripture then you won’t know what it says and can’t act accordingly.
There are Biblical examples of those rebuking sin.
Peter to Ananias and Sapphira. (Acts 5:1-9)
Paul to Elymas. (Acts 13:6-12)
Stephen to the priests and council. (Acts 7:51-53)
Paul to Peter. (Gal 2:11)
Paul to the Galatians. (Gal 1:6-9)
Nathan to David. (2 Sam 12:7-12)
Not to mention nearly every prophet of the Old Testament rebuked, reproofed, corrected, and instructed when sin was prevalent.
All are sinners, that includes me. None of us will escape that curse or the devils temptations to drag us away from God and into more sin.
One of the best defenses is help from someone that sees the sin that you may not see.
It’s not judgment – it’s love and concern.
