“And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”” Exodus 3:2-3
You can have an encounter with God from afar and it mean nothing.
You need to turn aside and get a closer look. Just like Moses saw the burning bush from a distance but then he turned to get a closer look.
He could have stayed far away and said, “I saw the hand of God in a burning bush!”
He didn’t. He drew closer and had a close up experience with the Almighty.
Here at church camp there is a staff member named Ben. He’s really friendly and helpful. I liked him from the moment we met.
Ben had an encounter with God one time in his life. But it was distant. Like Moses, Ben saw the burning bush from afar.
For quite sometime he felt like that was sufficient. But last night that changed. He turned aside and met the God of grace and salvation.
He turned aside for real and accepted Jesus as his savior.
I was thrilled to hear this news from my new friend – my new brother in the Lord.
If you think a distant meeting with God is enough, think again. Turn aside and see this wonderful sight of salvation.
