When they call the roll in the Senate, the senators do not know whether to answer “present” or “not guilty.” ~Theodore Roosevelt
I struggle this political season with no candidates that match my values close enough for me to consider voting for one.
I’ll be honest, at the first I was intrigued by Donald Trump. He said some things that I believed myself. He held nothing back when it came to talking about corruption, lying, and illegalities.
Then he wouldn’t shut up!
I read a verse this morning – but fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. Eph 5:3-4
The “filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting” makes me think of Mr. Trump. For me, he has gone way too far too many times.
I like to joke around with others. I like to make people laugh but there is a time to laugh and a time to be serious.
I don’t like how he has talked about others – even spread untrue rumors about some.
In my opinion no presidential candidate contains the humility needed to rule this nation for God. It seems to be all about them!
Humility is often viewed as foolish and a weakness. God has said the opposite.
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. 1 Cor 1:27-29
