But when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he transgressed against the Lord his God by entering the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. 2 Chron 26:16

Uzziah was a good king. He did what was right before God and God blessed him.
Then pride entered the scene.
Perhaps he thought he was untouchable and could do anything without reproach by God.
He was wrong!
He was king but tried to perform the duty of a priest. Only One person deserves to be both King and Priest – Jesus!
Uzziah ended up with leprosy.

It is a holier-than-thou attitude that should not exist in the heart of a believer.
I have seen the same pride in some Christians, where they take too much upon themselves, almost believing they are above reproach.
God’s servants should serve in humility.
Phil 2:3-4 says, “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

The key to humility is found in thankfulness. Be thankful to God for His blessings. Praise Him for those blessings. There is no room for pride in the presence of thankfulness and praise!
