I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10
I don’t dwell on death, not when Jesus wants me to have a more abundant life.
I think of the old movie Pollyanna.
Pollyanna visits Mrs. Snow, a hypochondriac.
One particular day she walks in as Mrs. Snow is deciding on the lining and handles for her coffin.
Horrified and shocked, Pollyanna tells Mrs. Snow she shouldn’t think about dying all the time. She should think about living and make a patch-work quilt.
Many people are like Mrs. Snow – never truly living and always preparing for death.
Death is in their words. It’s in their attitude. Nothing will go right. Everything will go wrong. They are pessimistic through and through. There is no hope and no brighter future.
That’s not Christ! Jesus came to give life – an abundant life!
To despair is to doubt God.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t depend on your own understanding!
