Establish my thoughts.

Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established. Prov 16:3

I talked with a few others about yesterday’s Morning Thought – Stop my thoughts (I’ve stopped my mouth).

The question came up – is it possible to control your own thoughts?
I made the statement that controlling the mouth is doable – just keep it shut – say nothing.
One person told me that was impossible for her. She thinks it and then says it.

No doubt it takes desire and discipline to bring your mouth and body into subjection.
I remember listening to a marathon runner say there is a point in the race when your body screams to stop. It takes disciplined thoughts to not give in to the exhaustion and to keep running. The mind must control the body.

Your mind controls your mouth but what controls your mind?
If your mind is ruled by hatred, anger, doubt, or other negative influences, then so will your thoughts and your words.
When God rules and controls your mind, then it stands to reason your thoughts and words will also.
Any negative thoughts I have bother me, even though I may not put them into words.

It is written You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. (Isa 26:3)
Allowing God to establish your thoughts buy subjecting your mind to His will gives you peace and the control of your mouth.

  1. You could certainly see your skills within the paintings you write. The sector hopes for more passionate writers like you who are not afraid to mention how they believe. All the time follow your heart.
