And he said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.” 1 Kings 19:14
Elijah was quite a prophet; an awesome man of God that stood against the king, queen, and the idolatry of a nation. But he felt alone in the task – like he was doing it all.
God informed him that 7,000 others were on his side to help.
You are never alone in the work of God. Always those against you are present but so are those for you!
Perhaps you do not see them. Perhaps they do not come help when you believe you need them most.
God told Elijah He had reserved 7,000, which God retained for future use. Their time had not come.
Sometimes you worry about what the other person is doing when it seems you do all the work.
Peter was that way about John. (John 12:20, 21)
Jesus told Peter to not worry about John… “You follow Me!”
It is so difficult to keep your eyes on Jesus and not on everyone else. However, keeping your gaze upon Him keeps you more happy and satisfied.
