Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have. Luke 24:39
When someone dies, we often try to wrap it up with a nice thought like “mom became an angel today” or “grandma got her wings”.
I do not mean to cause any offense but I do not believe a born-again believer that dies gets any wings or converts to another type created being.
God made the archangel, angels, cherubim, seraphim, and all the heavenly hosts.
Heb 2:9 says we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels.
After His resurrection He had no wings. He did not say to the disciples, “Behold My hands, feet, and wings!”
Again, I understand the thought people put on death.
However, I can think of no more comforting thought than being with Jesus.
At His death, He talk with a man next to Him and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Luke 23:43
He did not say, “Today you will become an angel!”
Nor did He say, “Today you will dance with your wife on the street of gold!”
There is no greater reward after death than being with Jesus!
Some thing really strange happened to me once I completely gave my self to Him. I could not participate in a lie. First thing I taught my little one the truth about Christmas. Our 5 yr. old walked around , for days, looking like her best friend had died. Now I find I’m telling little one that when a person dies they go to be with Him. And are given a pure, heavenly body just like His & He has no wings.
