Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Gal 6:7
The evangelist mentioned this scripture last night. He also said many people view this scripture as some sort of doom and gloom. It is far from it.
In farming and gardening the idea of sowing and reaping come alive!
Sowing is the act of planting seed. Reaping is what happens when you harvest from those mature plants.
If a Farmer Brown plants a field of corn then Farmer Brown expects to get a greater abundance of corn in return. He is not expecting a field of tomatoes or marigolds.
He reaps what he sows.
He plants one seed of corn and that yields one plant. That one plant yields several ears of corn.
None of this is bad!
However, the same is true of sowing bad, unusable things.
Sow prickly pear cactus or tallow trees and you end up with an unusable field after a while. Do not expect a field of corn when you plant a field of cactus.
The continuation of the scripture says he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Gal 6:8-10
If you sow love, you get love. If you sow hate, you reap hate. When you sow goodness, you reap goodness. When you sow evil, you reap evil.
Looks like your blessing is determined by what you sow!
