Children of Promise

So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free. Gal 4:31

In Genesis you read about a man called Abram (Abraham) and his wife Sarai (Sarah).
God promises him a blessing through a child – a child they’ve yet to have.
Years pass and nothing. It gets to the point that Sarah encourages Abraham to take a young handmaid and have children by her.
Ishamael is that child.
Years later Sarah is ninety and gets pregnant.
Isaac is that child.
Isaac is the result of God’s promise; the son of a husband and wife.
Ishmael is the result of man’s lust; the son out of wedlock from a man and a servant.
Both Isaac and Ishmael claim they are sons of Abraham but one will always be the son of a servant woman and not an heir of God’s promises.

Many people walk around today claiming to be a child of God but they still live as a servant of sin.
What does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” Gal 4:30
You cannot claim God as Father when you continue to live as a servant of sin.

Now that you know the truth, the truth shall make you free. When you accept Jesus as Savior, you are born-again; born into the promise of freedom from sin. You become the rightful heir to all the promises of God and not an outcast.
